oct 29, 1929 - Stock Market Crash
Description:
The Roaring Twenties came to a screaming halt. During the 1920s, the U.S. stock market reached its peak and the extreme drop was a result of low wages, a proliferation of debt, struggling agricultural sector, and an excess of large bank loans that could not be fulfilled. Stock prices declines and America spiraled down into the Great Depression, the greatest economic drop in history up to that time. By 1933, nearly half of America's banks had failed, and unemployment was almost at 30% of the workforce.
