(Term 1 Event) Also known as "the shot heard around the world," this essentially began the war between the British and the colonists. Captain John Parker readied about 70 minutemen to defeat the British regulars.
1. Began the war for the colonists' independence.
2. Sent a message to the British that the colonists weren't going to take it anymore, that war was inevitable.
3. The Massachusetts militia's actions earned them funding from congress in order to defend against the British and keep their people safe.
