The House of the Vettii is an elaborate monument made for two brothers and built to reflect the wealth of the upper class. Houses were a defining part of social status and the hierarchical class structure. It was made with the flaunting of wealth and power in mind. The process of building it also innovated newartistic techniques as well as an evolution of wall painting.
