Federation was one of the last few text based games to be released but what made this interesting, is how it moved to a small proprietary system known as AOL eventually and this was a system where they did not make you pay sub charges and any extra charges which was very surprising to many at the time. Even with this being, once more, another experiment, it led to the game losing a lot of money and becoming very unpopular. This however led to computing not having to be so costly with all the charges it made for every minute you were on the Internet for.
