nov 4, 2003 - "Should Jewish Judges Recuse Themselves
From Cases Involving Palestinian Terrorism?"
(Michael Mukasey)
tabletmag.com 2003, Nov 4
Description:
"...this was not the first time that a federal judge has been asked to step aside from a case because of their leadership in the Jewish community. In 1994, then-Judge Michael Mukasey was asked to recuse himself in a case stemming from the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. Mukasey refused to recuse himself and warned that there was a larger matter of justice at stake; the demand for his recusal would “disqualify not only an obscure district judge such as the author of this opinion, but also Justices Brandeis and Frankfurter … each having been both a Jew and a Zionist.”
