may 18, 1896 - Plessy V. Ferguson

Description:

Plessy V. Ferguson was a court case between Homer Plessy, a African American male, and the City of Orlando, Louisiana. The case revolved around how Plessy refused to move from the "White Only" train car. He was then arrested and tried, but he appealed stating that he was being denied equal protection by law. After a long fight that lasted for about 4 years, the Supreme Court came to the conclusion that separate-but-equal treatment didn't violate the Constitution.
