Description:

The Stamp act was a tax on all printed items including land title and playing cards. The Stamp Act was the one the first tax that was created only to raise revenue rather than regulate trade. The revenue this tax raised was supposed to cover the cost of British troops in the Americas. The Stamp Act sparked the first major controversy between within the British Empire.
