Teachings of the Path of Enlightment first appear in the stone bluffs above the mouth of the Hungtse River. The meter-high characters are blasted into the solid granite by reddish lightning during a firestorm witnessed throughout the continent. Though the skies are ablaze with light, the vegetation and people near the Hungtse are unharmed. The ancestors of the emperor are said initially to refute these teachings.
