Description:

Dr. Philip Zamboni worked with the Stanford Psychology department to create an experiment that helped to simulate real-life prison to look at the psychological effect of prisoners and prison guards. Putting an ad in the papers looking for volunteers to help in a prison experiment for 15 dollars a day. Almost 70 candidates applied, only 24 were picked after an intense evaluation of each candidate’s psyche and mental health. By the end of the process, a group of healthy, middle-class males was ripe for the experiment. They were divided up by a coin flip, all by random chance. The guards were actively told to be aggressive and were told that they have all the authority and power. Once the people and the experiment were set they finally began the project.
