sep 18, 1850 - The Fugitive Slave Act
Description:
As the cotton industry boomed slavery was on the rise, which meant slave owners wanted to insure that growing abolitionists views didn't intervene with their revenue. The first fugitive slave acts were created in 1793 which stated that runaway slave would be returned to their owners and anyone who aided them would be dealt punishment. And during the compromise of 1850 new harsher terms were added and even more relentless punishments. Not only that but the law legitimized slavery and seem far more resolute.
