Description:

Sherman's March to the Sea was a campaign to frighten people in the South so they would stop fighting for the Confederate cause. The Union soldiers came into the South and took Atlanta, Georgia and that was a hub for confederate forces and it proved to be very successful. The March also included destroying and taking anything in his path and bringing the confederacy to its knees. This was very important for completely destroying the South and leading to the end of the Civil War known Appomattox Court House.
