The Surrender of Appomattox on April 9th, brought the an end to the gruesome Civil war that had lasted for around 5 years. The Battle lasted for only a few hours because of the rebel troops being so depleted and the win for the Union looked to be the very near. General E. Lee had to surrender to Ulysses S. Grant because almost all of his troops were fully depleted and he wouldn’t be receiving any supplies or support from the Confederacy.
