In 1801, Thomas Jefferson became the third president of the United States and won a highly contested election between him and Aaron Burr. Thomas Jefferson was known for creating the Declaration of Independence and countries in the future using his model as a way to declare for their own independence. Jefferson’s first term could be characterized as being very centralized and creating a government with federalists initiatives, the government also dealt in the Louisiana Purchase and doubled the size of the country. During Jefferson’s second of the terms as President he weathered through many storms including scandals about himself being a slaveholder and also has to deal with many conflicts between Europeans which could’ve started a foreign war.
