Hundred foreign people (35 of these people included members of the English Separatist church) set sail for The Americas in September of 1620 on a ship called the Mayflower seeking religious freedom. After around a 60 day voyage they landed on the shores of present day Cape Cod and later the would land in in Plymouth Harbor where they would make the first European settlement in New England. A ship named The Speedwell that originally accompanied the Mayflower was forced to return to port by September because it was proven to be unseaworthy.
