Description:
The Virginia Company made up of 100 members founded the First English settlement in the Americas on the banks of the James River. During the first couple of the years famine, disease and conflict with local native Americans, this continued until a new group of settlers arrived in 1610 with supplies. Tobacco along with some other natural resources were the first profitable export and Jamestown then was able to establish and continued to be the main capital of Virginia until 1611.
