feb 12, 1909 - Founding of the NAACP
Description:
The national association for the advancement of colored people was originally started in 1909 by great leaders of the time such as W.E.B. Du Bois as well as Ida Bell Wells-Barnett. They started the organization in an effort to stop the segregation and discrimination that plagued America. This organization is still standing today and has made huge steps towards making sure that there is equality for all races. They worked often on a national level, such as getting President Wilson to stop lynchings in 1918 as well as getting laws and acts passed.
