Description:

The great migration was a time where over 5 million African Americans moved north to cities. In general, it was thought that African Americans lived in rural America, on farms. But, during this era the culture surrounding African Americans was changing and they were getting a new voice that was proud of who they were and a lot of that started with this migration north and toward cities. This continued all the way into the 60's and 70's.
