nov 11, 1918 - WW1 Ends

Description:

World War 1 lasted about 4 years, and the casualties were huge due to the nature of the war. Trench warfare was most common, with huge amounts of casualties resulting in only small advancements. In the summer of 1918, American troops officially joined the war. The extra resources and soldiers helped the Allied forces push back the German offensive on the Western front. The Allies continued to push back relentlessly, and Germany’s army weakened and lots of their population was starving due to sieges around cities. An armistice was signed by Germany on November 11th, 1918. Post-war, the German, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Russian empires fell. The war officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed, which made the Central powers accept full responsibility for the war, as well as harsh reparations, most of which were Germany’s responsibility.
