The USSR declares war between August 9 1945 - September 2 1945. During the Yalta Conference Stalin agreed that the Soviet Union would declare war on Japan within the 90 days that the Allied forces had defeated Germany. And on August 9th they did just that, they invaded Manchuria while the bombings were occuring in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It left Japan with no other options- they chose to surrender before things got worse for them.Added to timeline:
