Andrew Jackson, the nations’ seventh president, was part of the new Democratic party. He wanted priority on states’ rights and the expansion of slavery. While he is criticized for things such as replacing government officials with unqualified members of his own party and his opposition to the Bank of the United States, the most widely criticized move of his was the forced relocation of Native American tribes on the Trail of Tears. However, he did help the national debt and had pretty successful foreign policy.
