Description:

The Missouri Compromise prohibited slavery in the Louisiana Territory above the 36º30' parallel. States were to be admitted in pairs to keep the balance of free and slave states. Mississippi gained some relief from this compromise, but some people may have disliked it because it is limiting slavery.
