aug 28, 1917 - 10 Women Arrested For Picketing at White House
Description:
One of their common demonstrations at the Congressional Union was picketing in front of the White House. They made signs directed at the president at the time, Woodrow Wilson, in favor of the amendment that had been proposed to give women the right to vote. On August 28, 1917, 10 of these women who had been protesting were arrested for “obstructing sidewalk traffic” and many went to court for it. But, this did not keep them from working towards equal rights for women.
