Martin Luther King, Jr, was a Baptist minister and a famous civil rights leader/activists in the 1950’s-1960’s. He was born on January 15th, 1929. As a civil rights leader he organized many peaceful protest as the head of the Southern Christian leadership. On April 4th 1968 he was fatally shot in Memphis Tennessee while on his way to dinner, he was pronounced dead after his arrival at Memphis hospital at the age of 39. His death lead to a period of national mourning which helped speed the way for equal housing bill that would be the last significant legislative achievement of the civil rights era.
