may 18, 1896 - Plessy v Ferguson
Description:
This was a Supreme Court case in which a man named Homer Plessy sat in a “white only” car on the train. He was then arrested, tried and convicted of violating the segregation laws in Louisiana. He then appealed to the Supreme Court saying that he was of “mixed descent” and yet had been denied all of the rights and privileges of a white person in the United States. But, the Supreme Court ruled against him. This is the Supreme Court case that upheld that separate was equal.
