jan 1, 1791 - The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment

Description:

This clause prohibited the government from passing legislation to establish any one official religion over another. This is incredibly important for schools both then and now as it created the principle widely known as "separation of church and state". This principle protected (and continues to protect) students from religious discrimination.
