jan 21, 1974 - Lau vs. Nichols
Description:
An important case in which a federal court ruled that the San Francisco school system had violated the rights of Chinese American students. In addition to this, the court also ruled that students who found their educational experience "incomprehensible" should be taught in their first language if that language was not English. This is incredibly important for schools back then because it shows the change to be more inclusive for non-English student. It is also incredibly important for schools today because it serves as the foundation for the ESL classes we have today.
