Women's suffrage started in mid 1800’s but got it’s real breakthrough in 1920 when the Nineteenth amendment gave women the right to vote. It was late, not even 100 years ago, even though the 19th amendment was first proposed - but defeated - in 1878. This amendment was an important step in the right direction to a society with equality between all gender.
