The building of the Panama Canal is the largest engineering project in the American history that took 10 years of work to finish it before it opened in August 1914. It is a 48 miles long waterway that crosses the Isthmus of Panama. It was built to be able to ship stuff between the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. The canal helped the world traidings and the economy.
