apr 14, 1865 - Lincoln Assaination
Description:
While attending a play on the evening of April 14, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth. During a funny scene in the play, Booth shot Lincoln in the head and jumped from the President's box onto the stage. Booth ran away out the theater while the President was left fighting for his life. He died then next day, April 15 becoming the first American President to be assassinated. Booth was later cornered in a barn and shot by soldiers when he refused to surrender. The night before his assassination Lincoln had a dream of his death and almost didn't attend the play, according to some.
