apr 9, 1865 - Surrender at Appomattox (end of Civil War)
In April 9, 1865 the Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the and the Union General Ulysses S. Grant met in Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia to and finally ended the four year long civil war. In the war there was a lot of people that suffered, just a week before they met in Virginia Lee had lost half of his army.
