jan 1, 2009 - Introductory Event

Description:

Just as it has occurred in the past, in 2009, a new strain of flu emerged and infected millions. However, unlike the times of the Middle Ages, new technology allows for researchers to develop treatments and share findings. This new strain caused concern because even if someone has their vaccine for a particular strain, those antibodies will not be able to fight against a new strain. So, with H1N1 being a new strain, previous flu shots would not work. In addition to this, the strain was spreading quickly throughout the country.
