"The Trilateral Commission is a modern Praetorian Guard. David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski found Jimmy Carter to be their ideal candidate. They helped him win the nomination and the presidency. To accomplish this purpose, they mobilized the money power of the Wall Street bankers, the intellectual influence of the academic community—-which is subservient to the wealth of the great tax-free foundations—and the media controllers represented in the member¬ ship of the CFR and the Trilateral.
Their candidate, a relatively unknown, relatively unsuccessful, one-term Georgia governor, captured the machinery of the Democratic party and parlayed a not very successful series of primary campaigns into the nomination. Carter won the New Hampshire primary with 28 percent of the vote. He lost in Massachusetts, running fourth behind Jackson, Udall, and Wallace. He was the winner in Vermont, Florida, and Illinois, but in none of these states was he able to capture a majority of the party vote."
