Description:
On 29 August 1939, Hitler demanded for the 'Free City' of Danzig to be part of Germany as it was a port city with a large German population. He wanted control over the Polish Corridor by building a railroad to reconnect parts of Germany. Polish leaders did not trust Hitler and feared for their independence, but France and Britain were still willing to negotiate with Hitler. On 1 September 1939, Hitler invaded Poland. Britain and France asked Germany to withdraw forces, but Hitler refused. On 3 September 1939, Britain and France declared war on Hitler, marking the start of WW2.
