mar 23, 1933 - Enabling Act (23 March 1933)

Description:

Hitler's Political Impact:

Hitler's position of authority was further strengthened by the enforcement of the Enabling Act. The Nazi Party had 44% of votes at the 1933 elections. With the support of a small right-wing Party, the Nazis held a majority in the Reichstag. Hitler now planned to pass the Enabling Act, which would allow him to pass laws without the President's approval. On 23 March 1933, when the Enabling Act was to be voted for, only Nazis and their supporters were allowed into the building. The Enabling Act was therefore passed, allowing Hitler to ban other political parties from other elections.
