apr 17, 1883 - Pendleton Civil Service Act enacted
Description:
The act was passed in order to remove many gov't jobs away from political control. This helped establish the Civil Service Commission where they administered positions. This helped in many ways where if people wanted a gov't job they had to pass certain examinations in order to be approved.
