apr 12, 1861 - Attack on Fort Sumter (start of Civil War)

Description:

The attack on Fort Sumter was the beginning of the American Civil War. When Lincoln declared he was restocking the fort with supplies, the South immediately got their military together (as they stated any move to resupply the fort would be seen as a sign of aggression and treated as such). General Beauregard of the Confederates ordered open fire on the fort at 4:30 AM on April 12, 1861. The shooting continued through the day (both ways) and by Saturday the 13th Anderson (the Union Major) surrendered the fort around 2 PM.
