Description:

USSR & USA regarded each other as a threat and as being an expansionist and global strategic threat.
USA dominated the global economy and intended to use this as their global power for foreign policy.
Soviet Union had succeeded in establishing satellite states in Eastern Europe. Started to expand beyond Europe to ensure more security.
Stalin agreed that Greece could remain under the West's influence after the war. After Greece's liberation of Nazi occupation civil war began with two sides, the monarchists and the Greek Communists.
Britain had been providing aid to the anti-Communist forces, but in Feb 1947 announced this aid was no longer available.
Truman Doctrine, imprtant for dynamic relations from 1947 and it provided military and economic aid to Greece and Turkey and, by extension, to any country threatened by Communism or any totalitarian ideology.
