jun 22, 1941 - Operation Barbossa

Description:

Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the Nazi army's plan to bomb Stalingrad, a Soviet city. Hitler sent in the best of the best to concur the Soviet Union. Heading in with full confidence he would win, the Nazis marched into the Soviet Union expecting victor but had underestimated their enemy. The soviets had been pushed back to defend their largest cities. With the advantage of knowing the terrain and knowing what was to come, the Soviet were prepared to defend their country. As the cold winter set in, the Nazis found their equipment not always working and had began to realize they were not optimized for cold combat like this. This is ultimately what caused them to fail. Germany now had to prepare for the exact thing they were trying to avoid, a two front war.
