Carl L. Schurz, son of the late General Carl Schurz, in a statement he gave out yesterday, news of which came to the newspaper offices through the German Information Service, asserted that when the Lusitania sailed from New York a week ago last Saturday on her last voyage, "the German Government was informed that the liner had on board contraband of war."
