May 10th, 1940 was the day when Germany first attacked France in WW2. The Nazis quickly conquered France, by moving through Belgium, and Luxembourg.
After WW1 Germany had to pay many reparations to France, because of the damage that was done there. This crippled Germany's economy, and when the Nazis came into power, they wanted revenge from France. Invading France would also increase German morale, because they were finally able to invade a major nation.
