FROM THE COURIER MAIL:HOLLYWOOD star Amber Heard has arrived on the Gold Coast to prepare for her role in the new Aquaman movie.
The American actor was spotted at Pacific Fair shopping centre on the Gold Coast yesterday, snapping a selfie with a local café worker.
“I can’t still believe that I met her in person . She is goddess,” Ko Haejoo wrote on her Twitter.
Her arrival comes a year after she appeared in a Gold Coast court with then husband Johnny Depp for breaching Australia’s biosecurity laws and failing to place her two dogs, Pistol and Boo, into quarantine.
The incident occurred after she joined Depp while he was shooting the most recent Pirates of the Caribbean film on the Gold Coast.
Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce at the time made global headlines by warning the dogs would be put down unless they “buggered off” back to the US.
In late May, news broke that Heard had filed for divorce from Depp.
The Courier-Mail understands Heard had a farewell party in the US late last week before jetting into Queensland and could stay in Australia for as long as six months.
She will play Aquaman’s wife Mera in the DC Comics film, while Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa will star as the superhero.
Last October, director James Wan said of Heard bringing her dogs back into Australia “If they do want to do it, I guess do it the proper way,”
“I don’t really know what to say about that. It was a bit silly. It was a bit too over the top. It was a circus,” he added.
Momoa has already been in Queensland for two weeks, happily snapping selfies with locals and spending the weekend backstage at Bluesfest at Byron Bay.
Co-star Patrick Wilson is also already in town, while Nicole Kidman is yet to arrive. Rocky’s Dolph Lundgren is the latest actor announced to star in the film.
Cameras are due to roll on the superhero movie early next month.
