jul 4, 1776 - The Declaration of Independence

Description:

The Committee of Five, designated by the Continental Congress was given the task of writing the Declaration of Independence on June 11. Thomas Jefferson was chosen to write the first draft. The Committee revised Jefferson's draft until june 28th when they presented it to the Congress. Because the congress wanted the vote to be unanimous it took a few days for the Declaration to pass. Finally on July 4 Congress accepted the declaration and sent it out to all the colonies as well as the British government.
