Gitlow V New York was a Supreme Court Case that dealt with the 1st and 14th amendment rights. Gitlow was a man that was an Anti Anarchist and spread magazine and newspapers that threatened the United States government. Gitlow was brought to court, however he argued that this was a violation of his 1st and 14 amendment rights. The final decision was that the Congress cannot make any laws prohibiting the freedom of speech, however, it also applied to state governments.
