The Harlem Renaissance was an African American cultural and social movement that took place in Harlem in the 1920s and 1930s. Art, music and literature flourished in New York. This movement was significant during this time because up until that point, African Americans weren’t treated fairly and nobody saw them for having big accomplishments.
