The Platt Amendment was passed as part of the Army Appropriations bill. It was a document describing the relations between Cuba and the US following the Spanish American war, and was introduced to congress by Senator Orville H. Platt. It was a law put in place that restricted Cuba’s sovereignty and limited their autonomy. It allowed the United States to intervene at anytime if Cuba got into any trouble.
