Description:
The Sherman Antitrust act was put into place, under the presidency of Benjamin Harrison, in order to put an end to monopolies and trusts in the United States. The capitalists were not a fan of this act because it interfered with their ability to have labor unions and have large businesses with significant market power. This increased the opportunity for competition between companies.
