Jackson was the 7th president of the United States. He was a statesman and an American soldier. He was known as a national hero because of his victory over the British in the battle of New Orleans. Jackson’s political philosophy centered around creating a greater democracy for the common man, and he wanted universal white male suffrage. During his presidency, Jackson passed the Indian Removal act which forced Indian tribes to migrate.
