One of the first commentators on the גמרא. His commentary followed the text with various מסכתות and it was intended to be read with the מסכתה to help explain the meaning of the text.

About the Author: רבינו חננאל lived through from 965 - 1055. From Kairouan, he studied under his father at his father’s ישיבה. He is closely associated with רבינו ניסים הגאון, and together they taught the רי׳׳ף.
