From the attached article: Cosplay - or fancy dress - is nothing new at Comic-Con, but Johnny Depp took it to a whole new level on Saturday, stunning the audience with a surprise appearance in full costume as the titular villain in his new film Fantastic Beasts: The Crime of Grindelwald.
The latest JK Rowling tale - the second Harry Potter prequel - also features Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander and Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore, long before he was headmaster of Hogwarts School.
But it was Depp's casting that dominated the build-up last year, as fans said allegations of domestic violence levelled by his ex-wife Amber Heard should disqualify him from the role.
And when Warner Brothers unveiled the line-up for the Comic-Con panel to showcase the trailer for the film, Depp was not among the famous names listed.
Instead he made a surprise appearance half-way through the discussion, strolling on stage as the wizard Gellert Grindelwald, to deliver an anti-Muggle manifesto. “I do not hate them. I do not,” said Depp. “I say the Muggles are not lesser. Not worthless, but of other value.
"Magic blooms only in rare souls. It is granted to those who live for higher things.”
Creepy monologue dispatched, he left without speaking to his co-stars.
To add to the drama, Heard appeared on a different Warner panel about an hour later to discuss her forthcoming film Aquaman.
