Johnny Depp smokes a cigarette before breaking social distancing rules to HUG a fan while signing autographs as he left airport in Zurich

Johnny Depp broke social distancing guidelines when hugging a fan as he left the airport in Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday evening.

The actor, 57, appeared happy to chat and pose for pictures with fans outside the terminal after he touched down in the country.

However the film star appeared to forget about the regulations in place, as he wrapped his arms around the female fan waiting outside.

Johnny also stood closely beside the same woman as they posed for a photograph together, as well as a couple of other fans who wanted snaps with the actor.

Current government guidance in Switzerland states that people in the country should be keeping a distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people.

The rules also state that if it is not possible to maintain that distance, wear a face mask, however Johnny was without a mask at this point.

MailOnline have contacted his representatives for comment.

Johnny was also seen puffing on a cigarette after stepping out of the airport.

After posing for the photos, Johnny also signed pictures of himself which he was handed by the fans who had stopped him to take his picture.

The Fantastic Beasts actor was dressed in a typically quirky fashion for the outing as he donned a plaid overcoat, with a selection of scarfs worn around his neck.

Johnny completed his ensemble with a pair of jeans and a beige fedora, as well as sporting a pair of shades.

It is likely that Johnny is in the city for its film festival, which is currently taking place from September 24 to October 4.

It was reported last month that he will present his co-produced film Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane McGowan at a Special Gala.

The documentary tells the story of the Irish folk-punk band The Pogues.
